I realize its been a while. I was in New York on business for the last two weeks. Had a couple photo shoots and many meetings. I love talking, but sometimes these meetings just go on and on! Well, I'm back in San Diego -- paradise! Anyway, here's a photo of some of my girlfriends I workout with at my local gym. They're a pretty good lookin' group, huh? Some are fairly buff, as you can see. We usually go out partying once a month or so. Email me if you want to join us sometime! I will be heading out to Chicago next weekend to visit some friends of mine. I've also been asked to speak at The University of Chicago on "The Spiritual Exercises: Body and Soul." I'll integrate a little Ignatius and barbell curls...I'm blazing new paths! I will also be visiting several Chicago parishes on my whirlwind tour. Keep a look out for me! Kisses! :)

Skysurfing and California Bishop Secrets

Here's a photo of me and my skysurfing friends from last weekend. Its was so awesome! We did two jumps and on the second we performed what is called "skyrafting." I'm behind my girlfriend in the middle of the raft. It was so much FUN!!! I encourage all you guys to just let loose and try it. I'd describe it as a quasi-religious experience.

What else is new? Well, I've been pretty busy as usual. However, I've been keeping my ear to the ground and being a Vaticanista and all, I've come across some solid info. My contacts both in Rome and San Diego tell me that Bishop Tod Brown of Orange will most likely be named Archbishop of San Francisco. If and when this occurs, the auxiliary bishop in my diocese, San Diego, will be named bishop of Orange. He is a great priest. His name is Sal Cordileone. He worked in Rome for a while and is a super homilist. I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes my letting the secret out, but my contacts are solid and numerous and they are all telling me the same thing. San Diego's loss, but Orange's gain. Although not sure about how my peeps in San Fran should feel. ;)

The Adonis Strikes Again!

Guess who's at Benedict's side? Georg Gänswein. If you recall, Gänswein is the personal secretary to Pope Benedict. It just so happens that he is a very handsome guy. In his late forties, he possesses rugged good-looks with the aire of intellectual sophistication. He exudes charm and grace -- a traditional object of affection for the fairer sex. Now The Guardian is getting into the action with a piece so affectionately entitled "Though shall not drool." The Italian press has been swooning over this guy for months, including noted gay magazines. Looks like that charm just doesn't end with the ladies. I find this whole thing ludicrous. Sure he is a good lookin' guy, but he's a priest. C'mon. Enough already. Rocco devotes a rather insightful posting to this subject and proves, once again, that even young men are enthralled with Gänswein. This is all cute and humorous, but let's not objectify this guy. Like I said before, external beauty is only skin deep...its what you do with the God-given gift that counts. Gänswein, at least from my SoCal perspective, is doin' pretty darn well. And if he can attract more people to the Church because of those gifts...great! All this chatter leaves me one question: Does he have a younger, single brother? ;)

The Need for Exercise

Like I said, good looks and smarts are the name of the game. You gotta use what God gives you! Exercise is truly important for a successful life: exercising the mind as well as the body. But perhaps the most essential exercise is spiritual exercise. Gotta take care of the soul -- that means daily prayer and being kind to those around you. Going to Mass is important to if you are Catholic. I enjoy good spiritual reading like St. Augustine's The Confessions (check it out!) and, of course, The Bible too! I think its fun. And it seems like Msgr. Eugene Clark, rector of St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, would agree. I'm not going to rehash the facts, but the 79 year-old cleric has resigned.

So what do we make of this? I'd like to quote the wisdom of "Cheeky Lawyer," an online idol of mine: This is lamentable behavior if true. But the allure of sin, and the dulling of the moral sense caused by immoral actions can lead even the best of us to grave sin and to perpetual grave sin. Perhaps it started with an almost innocuous bit of flirtation, proceeded to a back-rub, and then continued on to the whole enchilida. Shame was felt. A promise never to do it again was made but the allure of sin returned. Instead of breaking things off and moving away from each other (perhaps I shouldn't be his secretary anymore, perhaps I should be asked to be reassigned...) they stayed close. She stayed late one night to help. A drink was poured. A line crossed. Clothes came off. Again shame and promises to not do it again but the attraction of that sin was too great and soon it became a regular thing. The fear of revealing oneself, the fear of scandal, the shame of it all prevented Clark from betraying himself and leaving his post; besides he could challenge the world from that pulpit. The softness of the riches he was accustomed to (a $2 million house on Long Island?) also contributed to the dulling of his senses. But while I find this horrible and wrong and pray to be protected from sin in my own life, I just can't take the be as shocked or offended...We are Catholics not Puritans and that means quite a bit. We shouldn't excuse sin or even be comfortable with it but it seems too that we need to be less shocked by it.

Beach Bunny Vaticanista Fights for Justice!

Thanks for all the countless emails I've received in only one day from all my new fans! I really appreciate the warm words of welcome and encouragment as I venture into the world of blogging.

As some of you may know, I caught the Philly Flamer, Rocco Palmo, red-handed. He stole a report from vaticanisti about George Niederauer as the possibile new San Francisco archbishop without giving due credit. This is morally repugnant. Rocco and his little "snowflakes" should be ashamed of themselves. But what do you expect from some maladjusted UPenn graduate? Rocco, are you happy? You wanna talk about it?

Finally, a true Vaticanista!

I don't know if all you guys (and gals) out there can handle the Beach Bunny Vaticanista, but its high time you get use to me...there's a true Vaticanista in the hood and she's not gonna take any backtalk from no one!
